I think he's trying to give a more nuanced definition of "heresy," and distinguish levels of culpability. That's fine, although I think he also errs on the side of excessive charity where Roman Catholicism is concerned.
Yeah, it seemed to me to be trying to affirm that some Roman Catholics don't know about a consistently applied denial of justification by faith alone (that that is official dogma, but average RCs don't consistently apply it - ); and that affirm other aspects of Christ's death- some kind of belief in some kind of atonement.
But Dr. White pointed out lots of other issues that Roman Catholicism has, as we all know.
I liked Piper's video about 2 minutes with the Pope and asking him to explain justification by faith alone, etc. that was clearer than his "clarification".
I did not understand what Piper is trying to say.
