Much more could be said:
"Washington officials admit to counting gunshot victims as COVID-19 deaths"
"CA doctors say they have seen more deaths from suicide than coronavirus during lockdowns"

As someone with complex PTSD who lost a father to suicide, I will talk to anyone who will listen about the "deaths of despair" that are resulting from the lockdowns. They are projected to be anywhere from 27K to 154K, hence our trolley problem. They have to be factored into health policy making: https://wellbeingtrust.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/WBT_Deaths-of-Despair_COVID-19-FINAL-FINAL.pdf
ReplyDeleteAlso, looking at "excess deaths" appears to be the way out of the counting problem.
