But as far as that goes, what if your belief in God is in the same category as the monsters you believed in as a kid? It can be a mistake to outgrow belief in monsters. Sure, monsters in comic books and Hollywood horror flicks are fictional characters, but the world contains real monsters, both natural and supernatural.
Yes, what is the poster afraid of that would result in a brain inventing God to pretend it's safe? And not only that, but given the universality of theism around the entire world, why did that fear of something that supposedly wasn't even there ACTUALLY provide such a survivability boost to the species?
