  1. A few thougts:
    1) Why is this new translation or format of the mass better than pre-Vatican or post-Vatican masses?
    2) If it is better than one of the previous, can we question the wisdom of changing it in the first place?
    3) This insistance on Latin syntax sounds much like KJVonly reverence.
    4) “But on the other hand, the Catholic Church is always about renewal and reforming itself. This is just one of those changes.” Is this really reforming itself or is it just more "The More Rome changes the more it stays the same." It's a shame it didn't reform in the 16th century when it had the chance.
5)Is Rome trying to fit with the times?
    6) The Purpose Driven Missal?

  2. I can see why this would upset some parishioners who are used to repeating the same words, from rote, week after week. Must be very off-putting indeed.

  3. "Rebecca Brown, a parishioner at St. James Cathedral in Seattle, said she felt well prepared for the new translation. 'I’m not fond of the linguistic choices, how it rolls off the tongue,' Ms. Brown said. 'But on the other hand, the Catholic Church is always about renewal and reforming itself. This is just one of those changes.'"

Yeah, "renewal" and "reformation"; those are the first two words I always associate with the RCC. /sarcasm

You can't make this stuff up.
