No matter how good the arguments are, they are completely overwhelmed by opposition and popular media skulduggery.
ReplyDeleteIt turns out people are not rational actors. They don't respond to arguments. They prefer certain narratives, evidence be damned.

Deletei) "Gay couples" are the current fad. People quickly tire of fads. It may seem like a steamroller, but it can run out of steam in a hurry.
ii) Most supporters are thoughtless. You can make many of them back down by simply mentioning some obvious counterexamples. For every narrative there's an opposing narrative. That leaves them stumped.
