Tony Evans: Gay Marriage Is Not a Civil Rights Issue

  1. Indeed, it's ironic how, on the one hand, there's such a tremendous breakdown of the family among African-Americans, but, on the other hand, how as an African-American President Obama potentially aggravates this breakdown by supporting same-sex marriage. If same-sex marriage is permitted, then why not other forms of "marriage" like "marriages" between a brother and a sister, or even a brother and a brother? Or polyamorous or polygamous "marriages"?

(Well, unless one strictly holds to a principle like only marriage between two people is socially beneficial. But this itself could receive pushback. In any case, it might rule out the latter examples but not the former ones. At least as far as I can tell.)

Anyway, if true, while so many African-Americans (as well as other groups in America) are struggling to keep their families afloat or keep them from capsizing and sinking beneath the waves, Obama is drilling a hole in the boat.
