Yoga

This is a brief follow-up to my earlier post. It’s one thing to spontaneously experience an altered state of consciousness, quite another to practice various techniques designed to actively trigger or cultivate an altered state of consciousness. I think the latter is foolhardy. It exposes you to malevolent spiritual forces that are more powerful that you. Once you open that door, you may not be able to close it.

Even in the case of a spontaneously altered state of consciousness, that still needs to be scrutinized (e.g. 1 Jn 4:1-3).

  1. I am experiencing an altered state of consciousness right now in which the Triablogue header does not appear at the top of your blog...

  2. Clearly you've been hexed. Does the exorcist make house calls?

  3. I never liked that header anyway.

Surely a team like T-blogue could improve upon that dog. Maybe have a reader contest for the new design?

    Update the look. Embrace change.

  5. I have talked with Christians who practice yoga, and they say they do it for the exercise.
I tell them to exercise a different way.

Wasn't Gandhi big on Yoga? And he was a big time false teacher.

  7. As many probably know, the traditional main header is a painting by Vittore Carpaccio depicting Saint George and the dragon. There are plenty of images of it on the web. Here's a random example:

I'm guessing the reason it was originally chosen was because the Triabloggers are supposed to be "dragon slayers" using their apologetical skills to refute error.

markshriv, the website you're promoting calls into question the genuine conversion and orthodoxy of people like John MacArthur and Charles L. Feinberg. Therefore, it seems to me that you and/or the author(s) of the website either are not Evangelicals, OR you and/or the authors haven't read the works of John MacArthur or that of Charles Feinberg. The website actually bases the questionable nature of Feinberg's conversion to the fact that he studied under a non-Christian rabbi. So what? Many Christian scholar have done so for generations (and centuries) in order to learn Hebrew and the various Jewish non-Biblical texts.

From quickly scanning the website, I get the very strong impression that the author(s) of this website has poor reasoning skills and has a conspiratorial mindset. The kind that jumps to conclusions by filling in gaps in reasoning with speculation as if they were facts.

  13. I used to be a Free Mason before becoming a Christian and MacArthur's name never came up in our quest to implement a New World Order.
