Symbolism? As in…metaphors (e.g. sun, moon, stars)?
But John never said these are metaphors. To treat this passage as a figurative description of Mary is clearly a lie from the devil. Or, at the very least, a lie from Jimmy Akin.
Catholic allegorical exegesis is a lie. A lie from the pit of hell. If you don't believe me, just ask Matthew Bellisario.
