We're both vegans!

I contend we're both vegans, I just eat one fewer animal than you do. When you understand why you only eat some animals rather than all animals, you will understand why I don't eat yours.

  1. The solipsist to a critic of the Multiverse, “We both reject an indefinite number of universes. I just reject one more universe.”

  2. This has to be one of the most stupid atheist arguments in the history of stupid atheist arguments.

Whether one is 'polycarnivorous' or 'monocarnivorous,' one is still in the category of carnivore.

    1. Of course, while the original statement is clumsy and stupid, it's trying to make a point:

'I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all other possible gods, you will understand why I dimiss yours.'
      Attributed to Stephen Roberts

The trouble is that the quote assumes all 'gods' are on an explanatory par, which simply begs the question. The Christian holds that God and 'gods' are not logically the same thing, or even remotely similar, so for the Christian to understand why he (the Christian) dismisses all other possible gods, it does not follow that he will understand/grant why the atheist dismisses the God of Christianity. That's a non sequitur.

More could be said, but that's enough to see the utter absurdity of the quote. And yet the quote is so arrogant and smug. Makes you feel embarrassed for the source and for those who continue to quote it.
