Steve: Thanks for posting this. Let me also ask your readers, if it interests them, to answer Carrier's version of the Argument From Evil as best they can, in the comment section for Carrier's Opening Argument. I think Carrier does that part well -- unlike the rest. And I think my response on that issue, which is not at all my forte (I have other excuses if you like), was tepid, at best. I thought that might provide a good excuse to give other people a shot at the question.
So I'm doing a little contest.
Rules: write a concise rebuttal to that part of Carrier's argument alone. Post it in the comments section of the post for Carrier's opening talk, or link from there to elsewhere. If you give the best response, if you like, I'll post your response on my blog also, and give you both of the following books by former Kuai Mu speakers (my ministry) as prize: (1) One of, Blomberg, Historical Reliability of the Gospels; Adeney, Daughters of Islam; Richardson, Eternity in Their Hearts or Peace Child; Marshall, Truth Behind New Atheism, Jesus & Religions of Man, Why the Jesus Seminar can't find Jesus, or Grandma Marshall Could; plus (2) Marshall, The Truth About Jesus and the Lost Gospels.
