We’re transitioning

Photographic evidence of hair growth
I haven’t posted much on my personal blog lately, mostly because life is uneventful, but I’ve put up three blog posts recently that show the transition that we’re making in our marriage from “sickness” to “health”. To be sure, there’s a long road to go, but Beth is feeling much more hopeful, and very happy to be alive. She is resting assured in her faith in Christ, and she’s very much enjoying being a part of my church.

We went to an Easter morning Sunrise Service – Christ is risen indeed. The church had a pancake breakfast, and she had an opportunity to give gifts to some of the pastors, elders, and women in the church who have been so much a part of our lives getting through this.

Monday she had her third of three perfect Chimerism tests. Chimerism tests indicate whether her old marrow and DNA are creeping back into the donor tissues. So far, she’s been 100% donor. We are at 4 months out from the transplant. If she continues on this path, they’ll not only tell her she’s “in remission”, they’ll tell her she’s cured.

Hair is vitally important to a woman (for some reason), and she has been religiously checking for hair. She’s very discouraged by what she sees, and so I took this photo this morning, which shows the shadow of some very fine baby fuzz that she just can’t see in a mirror.

Poetic “Justice”
This week, everyone in the family seems to have come down with a nasty stomach virus that comes with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Our older daughter had it Sunday. Our littlest one and I were fighting for the toilet Monday night and Tuesday morning. Over the last two days the three boys have all gotten it. But Beth, who is heavily medicated with anti-viral medicines and anti-nausea medicines, has felt fine through the whole thing.
