Darrell Bock has apparently completed his serial review of Bart Ehrman's Forged:

Here's the comment I left on the last review post:
ReplyDeleteDr Bock,
You said:
the gospels do not name their own authors
My understanding is that all of the sufficiently large extant manuscript copies of the Gospels actually include "Evangelion kata _____" with the name of the attributed author. Is that incorrect?
If it is correct, why would you say that?
Thanks!
Grace and peace,
Rhology

I called James White's DL and asked him the same question last month, and he told me that my impression was correct, but maybe Dr Bock knows something White didn't.
It is because name on manuscripts are not by an author but by a copyist. So they do not count.
ReplyDeleteThank you sir.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm wondering how anyone can know that they were from a copyist and not from the original author. Would you be willing to offer some insight on that, please?
Grace and peace,
Rhology
