  1. Boy is that spot on :-)

P.S. Surely I cannot be the only one who thinks Lumpkins should change his tag-line to:

    With that, I am...
    A complete and total a-hole.

  2. May I suggest if you have interest in a particular subject, ask your pastor or call a professor at one of our six seminaries. Ask him or her, “What’s the best book in print on _____?” keeping in mind whether or not you may be able to read and benefit from the work at your present comprehension level. If you have doubt, ask him or her for the best available book for non-technical readers. You’ll save yourself a lot of confusion, I assure.

Yes, my fellow Catholics, do contact your Priest if you have any questions. The Bible is just too difficult for people of your intellect to comprehend. Confusion when reading the Bible is never a sign that you might need to actually change the way you think about God, but rather that you need some guidance from us.
Only those masters steeped in our narrow Tradition can guide you safely through the lair of the deadly Ought, and away from the scourge of Calvin's hyperness, and beyond the fearsome plurality of the Whole Council of God - of which Reformed apologists seek after and are thereby condemned as non-specialists!
When you contact one of our representatives, just tell them 'I am' sent you.

  3. Thanks Steve!

Could you please weigh in to the issues discussed on Lumpkins' blog? He seemed quite content to dismiss the Calvinist position of Matthew 5 and Romans 8.

  4. Rohan,

Lumpkins' dismissiveness is typical of him. It's not worth interacting much with him. He's really just on a one-man crusade against all things James White and interacting with actual arguments is beyond him.

I would have to disagree. If Peter Lumpkins is a true believer, then he is beloved of the Lord, a new creation, a brother in Christ, and someone we are called to love. They will know that we are christians by our love for each other, according to the Scriptures.

Even christians can be dismissive, unfair, and even unkind in arguments. Does that mean that we should call them names and treat them like they are not a brother in Christ? I would submit that it isn't gracious, and does no good to anyone.

None of that changes the fact that Lumpkins is a complete jerk who has but a single goal in mind: to attack James White. Seriously, if White didn't exist, Lumpkins's wouldn't know what to blog about.

Hey may very well be a Christian--I assume he is one. But I'd happily never spend 5 minutes in the same room with Lumpkins.
