What's Wrong With This Picture?

Church cancels Sunday services to watch Evan Almighty.

And, yes, it's in their newsletter, to which Tim Ellsworth links.

And we wonder why we're having a problem with the concept of "regenerate church membership" in the SBC and, in fact, across all Baptist groups at present!

  2. Some movements within the SBC are encouraging to an extant. Many Southern Baptists are just falling over and watching this kind of nonsense go unchecked. However, this brings up a larger question I have been thinking about...

Has there ever been a denomination or movement that has terribly fallen off course yet was recovered by those that stayed in? I suppose some would site the conservative resurgence in the SBC. However, a portion of the leadership from that era seems to be contributing to the problems the SBC is in today.

I think of JI Packer staying in Anglicanism and he ends up signing that absurd ECT document. John Stott stays in and he ends up an annihilationist. Its almost like you can't stay in the sinking ship without being waterlogged yourself. This is not an accusation of any sort. These are just some things I have been thinking about. Any thoughts? Thanks for your time.

  3. the first line should read - "Many Southern Baptists are *not* just falling over..." And I spelled "extent" wrong. Sorry about that :)

  4. For the record, I think Stott recanted on that "annihilationism" thing...

  5. ONLY ONE WISH:

A Canadian, an American, and a Chinese heard about a mountain that if you jumped of it and said something you'd land in it. So they decided they'd try it when they got there the Chinese jumped of it and yelled money and landed in millions of dollars, then the Canadian ran and jumped off and he yelled hot naked woman and he landed in a pile of hot naked woman. Finally the American guy ran for the edge, tripped yelled SHIT and he landed in a pile of it.
