I'm not sure I quite understand the reviewer's perspective, other than to welcome Aslan's contribution to the "historical Jesus" field (but with plenty of specific criticisms), pile onto the Fox News interview, and extol academic diversity. From what I know of postmodernism, taking a postmodern approach to history does not commend any work to me. And throughout all of this (and particularly in a few of the comments) there is a bias toward a naturalistic approach to Scripture that discounts any claim to divine inspiration.

ReplyDeleteThe reviewer is clearly liberal. However, it's useful to have hostile liberal reviews (as well as conservative Christian reviews) of the book.
