Once upon a time, a time during graduate school, I overheard another graduate student obnoxiously tell another person, "Victor Stenger has shown the God hypothesis is false." I was walking to the bus stop, but I had time to spare. Being about 10 feet away from them, I stopped to consider the proposition that it would be worth discussing whether Stenger had shown any such thing. And so I continued on to the bus stop.
I haven't read the above (yet) so I don't know if there's significant overlap: Bartholomew debated Stenger on whether God is a "failed hypothesis" some years ago. Here is the debate.
