Two things: First, he’s not one of the 2%, he’s just a marginalized, “cafeteria” “cultural” Catholics, not a “Catholic”, so his opinions can be safely dismissed by the true believers (meaning, in their minds, it’s really not an intramural debate), and second, it’s refreshing to see someone “out there” use the phrase "begs the question" properly.
