  1. 1. Maybe I missed it, but what is the proposed date of the Exodus by the film "Patterns of Evidence" ? He mentions debates between other scholars of 1400s vs. other days, but does not tell us what the film proposed ( or I missed it); and doesn't tell us what the "New Chronology" is.

    2. Why do all the maps in our modern Bibles (and the New Bible Atlas that I have) show a Red Sea crossing way up where there is land? The text says the water stood up like a wall on the right and left. (Exodus 14:21-22)
Has there been any discussion of this?

  2. 1. Fair enough, I added a hyperlink and brief sentence on the New Chronology to the article. It is not worth taking up much space about it other than to say that it shifts Egyptian chronology centuries to the "right". The point of the article is to provide a compact overview of the state of more reputable evangelical scholarship.

    2. There were certainly lakes that existed in the vicinity east of the Nile delta and the region of the Sinai penninsula, the geography of the area has changed over the past 3 and a half millenia. Lakes dry up, and the construction of the Suez Canal altered the geography of the area greatly.

Scholars have proposed many potential routes for the Israelite exodus. There is no concensus. If I remember correctly, Currid and Garrett are warm to the idea that the Red Sea (Sea of Reeds) crossing was the Gulf of Aqaba.
