Why We Can’t Unhitch from the Old Testament

  1. Stanley is such a caricature. I swear, it's like he hasn't even read the New Testament itself.

  2. Trying to keep it brief here. I can't recall where I read it but someone said the Old Testament is not Israelite history. It's God's history of interacting in this world. How can we know to trust God without knowing His backstory & resume, so to speak? BTW, this is in addition to the moral authorithy of the OT and not distinct from it. It bothers me to an extent when I see adults revealing a value judgement ability that is less developed than an infant's. But maybe, juuuust maybe, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom :)

  3. Imagine saying to someone you claim to love "Yeah, I love you, but I'm gonna unhitch myself from 3/4 of what you say...it's just not helpful to me at this time."
