I don't agree with Last that this is a reason to "panic." For one thing, it's very unpredictable. It may burn itself out.
Moreover, I'm fatalistic about these things. I have no control over whether or not there will be an ebola epidemic in the US. So "panic" is futile. It doesn't change whatever the outcome will be.
He does, however, raise some valid issues.
Generally I'm not a fan of those suggesting "panic". It will be interesting to refer back to this one in six or eight months to see how closely "what might happen" compares with "what happened".
ReplyDeleteTrue. There are, however, two distinct issues. One is whether the tiny ebola outbreak we already had here will fizzle.
DeleteThe other is whether ebola will engulf Africa. If that's the case, then it's hard to see how it can be contained to Africa. That's the graver potential threat.
