The only good bishop is a dead bishop

Some Catholic epologists have a rather counterintuitive way of making their case for the One True Church®. It's like a guy who wants to sell you his boat, but when you go to the marina to scope out the vessel, you can't help but notice a pump in back that's siphoning water out of the leaky stern.

Case in point: http://catholicchampion.blogspot.com/

Given how little confidence Da Champ has in his own denomination, how that pump is working overtime to keep the derelict ship afloat, I think I'll invest my savings in a more seaworthy vessel.

Catholic epologists seem to operate according to the motto that the only good bishop is a dead bishop, viz., Cardinal Manning, Cardinal Newman.

This is just some of the stuff he's posted as of 2011:

As usual, it seems many bishops are about being political rather than about being Catholic. When a bishop allows a pro-abortion speaker to speak in their diocese but outlaws an orthodox Catholic to speak, then we know where his allegiance is to be found.

Schonborn's New Youth Catechism-Typo or Heretical?

I cannot believe that Bishop Bambera is going to pull something like this. Why doesn't the bishop explain what he means by insensitive? Please, give us examples, so that we can all learn how not to act towards other religions. Is it OK to say they are in error, or tell them that the Catholic faith is the only true faith? Or is that insensitive? This is the reason why few convert to the Church these days. We have to be sensitive to everyone's feelings. If the bishop is going to stop him, then he should stop all laymen and women from speaking. But before he does that, he may want to make sure that at least some of his priests are capable of teaching the true Catholic faith effectively. Personally, I could care less whether any lay men or women are able to speak in churches. But what I fail to see are the priests stepping up to the plate to actually teach the Catholic faith, and even fewer bishops.

Any Catholic who doesn’t live under a rock knows well the scandals that have rocked the Church over the last decade. Many bishops covered up abuse cases under their jurisdiction and failed to stop corrupt priests from harming their prey in a myriad of ways. Heresy, schism, immorality, irreverence and the list goes on have been allowed in many places to go unchecked. As a result of this dereliction of duty we now have a serious problem on our hands. Satan has worked this plan out to perfection by first weakening the Catholic faith in the Church with modernism, and he knew that immorality would soon follow. Many priests and bishops fell into heresy in the Church, and as a result allowed corruption to run rampant in many forms, including sexual abuse. Many priests left the priesthood after Vatican II, many laymen also left, and many who stayed behind sought to corrupt the Church rather than leave it. So as these corrupt bishops began to retire, or got close to retiring, the abuse cases were conveniently brought back up. I have often wondered why it has taken so long for some of these cases to come out. Aside from the practical reasons, after some thought, it seems like a perfect contingency plan for Satan’s latest assault on the Catholic Church. He knew that eventually the bad clergy would be weeded out.

Now that Satan’s infiltration of bad theology is beginning to be challenged by good bishops and priests, he already has a contingency plan built in so that he can disarm the orthodox clergy. With so little effort made earlier by the bishops to stop the heresy and abuse, now the Church may have gone completely overboard in the other direction. It is a natural reaction of course. The Church now has to do anything she can to appease the secular society at large, as well as those who have been hurt within the Church. I as well want something done, but exactly how it is to be done most effectively for the progress of the Church, I do not claim to know. What I do know is that now every accusation made against a priest, no matter how crazy it may be, must be taken seriously. As a result, as soon as a priest is accused of anything, he is going to be taken out of commission, period. This has given Satan a great new weapon he did not have before. This was a indeed a brilliant design by the prince of darkness.

Since some of the clergy that were in high places over the last 40 years did little or nothing to maintain orthodoxy and morality in the Church, now those following them are going to have hell to pay. Any accusation made against them is going to destroy their reputation whether they are guilty or not. I will not get into any details over recent accusations against priests, that is not my purpose here. My point is that many in the hierarchy of the Church over the last 40 years have been played like a golden fiddle by Satan and his minions. They chose to do nothing when heresy was being taught in their midst, and chose to do nothing when immorality was in their midst. Now those who want to do something about it are going to reap the consequences of their predecessors, because Satan is not going to let an opportunity like this pass him by. How the Church handles the upcoming accusations made against priests is going to be a crucial factor in deciding how long it will take to get this ship back on course. I don’t pretend to have the answer to this situation the Church finds herself in. I am just observing how I think Satan’s plan is unfolding, and I think we all need to pray for our bishops and priests, because they are going to have a huge battle in front of them.

Over at the "Pray Tell" blog we have yet another example of how the Catholic faith is being undermined by bad catechists.

With the state of the Church being what it is, it is easy to get discouraged. Most of the theologians in the Church today have inherited a modernist mentality which severely impairs their ability to understand and communicate the Catholic faith effectively. At times it appears that the only theologians that are safe to read are the ones who lived before the mid 19th century. As a result you almost get the impression that you are living a faith that only exists in the minds of dead authors.

One heretical statement made by a bishop or priest can be carried across the globe in seconds, and the media will make sure they are supported. If you remember, videos of Fr. Michael Pfleger and his mad rant a few years ago was aired across the nation and pumped into every television across America just minutes after it happened! This of course is a weapon that has been used to pry people away from the Catholic faith. Likewise the internet poses the same danger. The modern media entities, which despise Christ and His Church, are always looking for ways to promote their secular agenda. The most effective way to successfully lay siege to an enemy stronghold is to have an ally inside the castle you are trying to take down. Let us remember how the mighty city of Constantinople was first ransacked. Those outside her walls could not penetrate her capable defenses, but a few disgruntled sympathizers inside the gates allowed the enemy to break into the city. This same strategy holds today. The media looks for sympathizers inside the Church, and they use the modern means of communication to wreak havoc.

Now we turn to the Church and her tactics, if we can call it that, and we see no counter offensive. Those who have the authority within the Church today do not seem to make use of these modern means of communication effectively to counter this siege. Doctrine and dogma do not change, but strategies and methods of communicating those doctrines and dogmas certainly do. Remember how the printing press shook the world and allowed the pretended “Reformers” to promote their heretical enterprises? The Catholic Church eventually had to counter them with their own mass produced tracts and books, and as a result thousands came back into the fold. So far, the Catholic Church has not caught up to the change of technology, and in my opinion, it has been catastrophic. Unfortunately we see laymen and women trying to fill the void left by the hierarchy. They publish more blogs and websites on the internet everyday to try and counter the massive onslaught of heresy and scandal. Most have good intentions I am sure. Some of the laity are actually making money off of this void. It appears however that few clergy are using modern means of communication to teach the faith or address problems in the Church. It is as if the hierarchy are stuck in a time warp where pen, paper, horse back and saddle are their only means of communication. By not using modern means to communicate and defend the faith, it is like bringing a pocket knife to a gunfight. Would you reject the printing press over a 10 scribes? I think not. People spend more hours now on the internet than they do watching television. Why let that medium be dominated by these nefarious hecklers who seek to destroy the Church? The laity however have not missed the boat here. Unfortunately, this is upsetting the entire structure of authority within the Church. This unfortunate situation allows guys like Mark Shea to pop up out of the woodwork, and appoint themselves as authorities on the Catholic faith, which they have no business doing. As they say, when there is a void, something will eventually fill it.

So we have a critical problem in the Catholic Church today. Those who are blessed enough, as I have been, to be in a wonderful parish where the Mass is celebrated properly and the orthodox Catholic faith is taught, are in the minority.

More Nonsense from Cardinal George. (Lets do Yoga!)
It seems that Fr. Pflager is not the only problem (Watch some of the videos at Pflager's Church) that Cardinal George has not handled. His cathedral is now promoting and offering Yoga classes by certified Yoga instructors who are well versed in interfaith prayer and meditation. Here is some of what they are advertising, none of which has anything to do with the Catholic faith. Do some research on Yoga, especially the vinyasa Yoga, which originates from Indian gurus. Its all bad news.
