Paul Manata and I are in a "
debate" with someone who goes by the moniker "sillysillysilly". Well, if you can call debating a troll a debate. For some examples see
here,
here, and
here. This is just the tip of the iceberg too. Anyway, Paul made an insightful, worthwhile comment to the troll where he cites
Seeking God in Science by Bradley Monton. It's a useful book.
Also, Prov 26:4-5 reads: "Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him yourself. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes."
ReplyDeleteThe ESVSB comments: "These verses are especially striking in that they appear to contradict each other. To 'answer a fool according to his folly' (v. 5) is to keep replying to his remarks in order to show up their folly. Verse 4 gives the general policy ('answer not a fool'), because you will end up 'like him yourself' as he responds to your reply with further folly: the interchange will have no end. Verse 5 gives the exception ('answer a fool'), because sometimes he or others may think to their own harm that he cannot be answered (cf. v. 12)."
You should rename your blog the TrollBlog.
ReplyDeleteKev Johnson,
ReplyDeletehow interesting that Patrick pasted that verse seeing what you posted:::>
Kev:
You should rename your blog the TrollBlog.
Question,
Is that comment cited by me that you made a value judgment about yourself stopping by in here and posting those words?

A troll saying we should rename our blog the TrollBlog? How ironic.
