Jesus X

As Steve noted in a previous post, Roger Olson said: "Jesus post-resurrection body had substance, but was not composed of matter–at least not as we know it."

In addition to Steve's possibilities, perhaps there's a third: XNA.

Sure, we kinda know about XNA now. But it sounds like XNA could still be tweaked and improved upon. Maybe current XNA is just a rough draft for a future final product.

If so, maybe what Olson means is Jesus' post-resurrection body was what it was thanks in large part to time-traveling scientists from the future who went back to 1st century Israel.

Okay, I know what you're thinking. All this sounds totally far-fetched! But keep in mind nothing is impossible when it comes to Roger "postevangelical" Olson. With man this might be impossible, but with Olson all things are possible.

  1. I'm a little confused over what this argument is over.

Is Olson denying that Christ was bodily resurrected / denying the empty tomb?

Or is Olson saying that Christ was bodily resurrected, but that the flesh transformed into something unlike human flesh?

    Or something els?

  2. Hey Crude, I think it'd be best to start here. Straight from the horse's mouth.

  3. RWH,

Thanks. The comments section has Olson saying that the tomb was indeed empty, that Christ's body was resuscitated, and that afterwards this body was something other than a normal body.

I'm just trying to work out this particular objection, because as near as I can tell what Olson is saying - on this specific point - isn't controversial. But I admit this is apparently part of a larger debate I'm not following.
