  1. Hello Steve,

Couldn't being born into the Upper Caste of Hinduism, as an elect member of the Upper Caste, count as a valid grace of Hinduism?

In contrast, you have the non-elect Untouchables who were born into the Lower Caste.

I'm not the first person to raise the concern that Calvinism bears some resemblance to Hinduism in this manner.

  2. You mean, you're not the first Arminian to try that.

Discrimination is only unjust if all parties are entitled to equal treatment. Since no sinner is entitled to God's mercy, God can justly elect some, but reprobate others.

That's hardly comparable to the Hindu caste system.

  3. But both do involve unconditional caste systems, no?

Out of curiosity, I wonder what caste that Michael now sees himself in, with regard to Hinduism.

  4. The Hindu cast system is not unconditional. It's conditioned on such factors as whether or not you're a Brahmin.

Conversely, unconditional election presupposes sin. That's one reason it's unconditional. If it were conditional, it would disqualify everyone inasmuch as everyone is an undeserving sinner.
