Bad Ol' Putty Tat

Wade  Burleson recently posted an eye-rolling defense of egalitarianism. I may comment on that some day. For now I'd simply point out that egalitarian/complementarian debate is terribly old hat. It's time to move on to cutting edge issues in ecclesiology and pastoral ministry, such as:

Welcome to the Facebook page of OCN, Ordain Cats Now in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS). We are a growing number of cats and people who think the ordination of cats should be publicly discussed in the LCMS.

There are many theological perspectives on the role of cats in the LCMS, but not all aspects have been heard or considered. Studies conducted over the last four decades by the Commission on Theology and Church Relations (CTCR) on the topic of cats in church have created confusion and unnecessary division within and among congregations due to a lack of thorough study of the issues and of relevant Biblical texts.

For discussion to occur, all positions on an issue must be voiced or put forth. While there are many groups that ironically speak in favor of the silencing of cats, there has never been a group in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod that has advocated the ordination of cats. Therefore, the purpose and mission of LCMS OCN is twofold:

1) To help create a space where the voices and writings of people in favor of the ordination of cats can emerge and

2) To openly call for the public discussion, within congregations and synod-wide, of the ordination of cats.

Some writings that favor the ordination of cats can be found athttp://www.facebook.com/synodocat

All are invited to join in thoughtful and polite conversation on this facebook page. However, dogs will not be tolerated.

  1. Why have we neglected the equality of kittens for so long? It's outrageous! I demand equalikitty!

  2. LOL.

'Course, this is a response to some recent old-hattery (http://www.facebook.com/OrdainWomenNow) that has been providing great amusement for conservative Lutherans...

Impossible, since while cats were well known in Biblical times and places (e.g. ancient Egypt), cats are nevertheless never mentioned in the Bible (though, lions and leopards are).

Whoever these cats are, I wouldn't trust them. Even if they profess they "aren't *lion* to you."

  5. Old hats have a way of coming into fashion. It takes wise men to take them off the shelf and dust them off. Laughing.

I am against liberal feminism and fundamentalist patriarchy.

I am for the bible and everything it says. :)
