'Something' - Arminian Style

Here's a remake of a classic

***************

Something in the way He moves
Attracts me like no other wuver
Something in the way He woos me

I choose not to leave Him now
I chose to believe, and how!*

Somewhere in His smile He (kinda) knows
That I don't need no other wuver
Something in His style that woos me

I choose not to leave Him now
I chose to believe, and how!*

You're asking me will my love grow
I have free will so I don't know, I don't know
I stick around for now it may show
I have free will so I don't know, I don't know

Something in the way He (kinda) knows
And all I have to do is think of Him
Something in the outpour of grace woos me

I choose not to leave Him now
I chose to believe, and how!*

I chose Him because His universal grace
I hope I will see his face
The guy next to me had the same grace
But he won't see His face

Why did I chose but not him
I don't know, I don't know
Was I better in some way than him
Probably so, probably so

I choose not to leave Him now
I chose to believe, and how!*

*(Patting myself on the back for making such a wise choice, as opposed to my idiotic friend who did not.)

  1. The irony is that Harrison meant "Something" to be about God. Yet the conventions of the day kept him from releasing it with that intent. So, he modified it a little and released it as a love song to a woman.

  3. Paul,

That was a funny post, but I have a serious question for you.

How can I tell my wife and kids that I am not me, that instead I am you???

According to my favorite Arminian I’m you, now I am sure that in real life you’re a swell guy, but my wife may not take to kindly to me not being me anymore. What to do, what to do?

  4. Paul,
When is the release date of your new single? I hear it will debut in the Jeff Foxworthy weekly Top 40 countdown. Congrats!

  5. B.J.,

Stay tuned. Ryan Seacrest will debut it on American top 40 in the next couple of Sundays.

    Ben,

I'll email you the recipe. It involves boiling water, a cauldron, a live chicken, and growing out a stylie.

  7. No piperette, I can't. Sorry. It is almost verbatum with the original, so that won't help either.

  8. Thanks for that post, Paul. I got a genuine belly laugh out of it! If I may humbly offer one suggestion--

I would modify one line to say:

I choose not to leave Him now
I chose to believe, and how!

  9. Does this mean the Beetles are the best band?

  10. Pilgrimsarbour,

I have included your rendition and made it part of the song. I'll send you a monthly check from part of the proceeds.

    Vytautas,

If I answer yes I run the risk of stirring up a proverbial Arminian hornet nest because it is close to blasphemy to say that any band other than Stryper is the "best band ever," according to them.

  11. Paul,
Love the Beatles. Love Harrison's song. Would also love to hear "My Guitar Gently Weeps." But this version made me laugh! Keep it up.

    Everyone sing along now:

    Calling....on you....

Thanks, Paul! I'm quite honoured. What percentage of "zero" will you be sending, exactly?

  14. Pilgrimsarbour,

    .48 x 0 to you

    .50 x 0 to me

    and .2 x 0 to The T-blog label.

  15. Wow, we're splitting 118% of 0! No wonder the music industry is in trouble.

Does this mean I should stop selling the bootleg mp3 on the sly?

  16. "But it was a Hindi-type god..."

Hindi is a language; Hindu is a religion. Harrison's god was Hindu.

  17. I look at my soul and see the love there thats sleeping
    While my guitar gently weeps
I look at my neighbor's floor and get down to sweeping
Because of my love there that sleeps
I don't know why you find it so hard to unfold your love
It's your fault for letting sin control you
    Transform and mold you.

I look at my faith and I notice its certain
    While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake I'm constantly learning
    Unlike most other peeps
I don't know how you were diverted
I'm not as perverted as you
You should have believed the gospel when you heard it
    After someone alerted you.

I look at others and see no love there thats sleeping
    While my guitar gently weeps
    Look at you all . . .
    Still my guitar gently weeps.
