Mariolatry and images of Jesus

Here's an interesting comparison:

On the one hand, Puritans say it's wrong to make images of Jesus because (among other reasons) an image of Jesus can't represent his deity. So images of Jesus are Nestorian.

On the other hand, Catholics say that if you deny that Mary is the Mother of God, that makes you Nestorian.

Poses a bit of a dilemma for Puritans.

  1. I'm an old-school Presbyterian, so I'm not a Puritan. But I hold the same position on images of Christ. We don't deny that Mary is the Mother of God in some sense. The Child she bore was the God-man from the time He was conceived.
