Separating the boys from the men

There's a Facebook group in support of resurrecting W. L. Craig's fabled beard. There are reported sightings of Craig's beard from the past.

However, I think the explanation for Craig's disappearing beard is straightforward. As a man of honor and integrity, he came to the realization that his theology belied his beard. You see, Calvinism is a manly bearded tradition whereas freewill theism is a callow peach fuzzy tradition. Consistent Calvinists look like this:

  1. Then again, you sometimes get bearded characters like this...

  2. I've grown a Van Dyke on and off for the past 3 years and it can get so hot and itchy. I don't know how people with full beards cope. It's also so strange not to be able to touch your skin where the facial hair is. It's like you've got a dentist novocain shot 24 hours a day.

I was a fan of Oliver Crisp's Beard which had it's own facebook wall. Though, not all the pictures are available as they used to be.

I'm also a fan of Craig's 70s beard with the long hair.. He looks like a sasquatch. Some people may doubt God's existence, but looking at Craig with his 70s beard, people would believe Bigfoot exists!

    1. It might be a mere coincidence, but it's an interesting statistical fact that Yeti sightings dropped around the same time William Lane Craig decided to shave off his beard.

    2. Yeti allegedly live in Himalayan regions of Tibet and Nepal, so it seems unlikely that it was Craig. However, beards may have inherent magical powers. In which case Craig may have been able to teleport or bilocate.

  3. Have there been bearded popes? I'm certain the Apostle Peter must have had a beard. Wouldn't beardless popes act as evidence against apostolic succession?

  4. Someone may want to let John Piper, John MacArthur, Tim Keller, Michael Horton, R.C. Sproul (and Jr.), Albert Mohler, DA Carson, Wayne Grudem, Sometimes James White, and Kevin Deyoung know that you guys are waaaaaaay more Calvinist than them

    1. To begin with, half of those are Baptists, and as Scott Clark would be the first to tell you, Baptists can't be "truly Reformed."

Moreover, doesn't James White sport a beard? Or were you insinuating that his toupée slid all the way down to his chin?

  5. Where do Orthodox priests fit into this?
