  1. Not impressed on numerous counts. But let's just look at this one-

The very nature of sex is generative and even in infertility or old age is an act al-
ways looking beyond the self and the couple to others.

Have presented John Calvin, Matthew Henry, Paul and Westminster against that telos here- http://vanberean.blogspot.ca/2011/01/papal-condom-nation-pt-2.html

    Enjoy!

    1. How is the sexual act of an elderly infertile couple always looking beyond the couple to others?

    2. Likewise, what makes you think that an elderly couple has an obligation to look beyond each other when they have conjugal relations?

  2. Indeed! That is one count of Hollinger's that I (and Calvin etc.) was refuting.

And the telos that I was ultimately promoting in my article was a trinitarian telos. A recreational telos rather than a procreative telos.

But that Hollinger link still has some good stuff in it. Thanks for that, Steve.

  3. Watching that Bill Nye Debate... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6kgvhG3AkI

Around 1:17:15 "The great chin stroker of science is 'why does anybody have sex'?
Allegedly to have 'fewer procreative mutations than asexual production'. Now that's funny, Bill!

    What a different paradigm.
