Psikhushka

This is reminiscent of how the old Soviet Union used to deal with dissidents, by consigning them to psychiatric prisons:

  1. I don't know the circumstances. There are aspects of military service that require partial surrender of constitutionally guaranteed rights. One of these is the freedom of speech. Some information, and a serviceman would be informed what this information is, is against the UCMJ to repeat. If any of this information happened to make it onto his facebook page, he could be subject to military justice - and this goes beyond civil justice. It would also not be something the government would be willing to disclose to the media.

As for the psychiatric aspect, "Psych Evals" are SOP in some types of investigations. Depending on the administration any of these kinds of practices could certainly be abused.

  2. Thanks, Jim. My suspicion is that, in light of recent shootings, the authorities decided he was a risk.

  3. Sounds like he had already committed murder in his heart. "Sharpen my axe; I'm here to sever heads" could be understood as a threat. If he doesn't get that, he might be safer off the streets.

  4. Could be a threat, or it could simply be a metaphor.
