Cyrus Gordon's article is excellent and helped me greatly when I first read it in 1987-1988 in seminary. It helped bolster argumentation against the JEDP theory.
What was really significant is that Cyrus Gordon was not a Christian, but a Jewish scholar.

Indeed, Gordon was a secular Jew. And he was also the most eminent comparative semitics scholar of his generation.
