A few lines from songs from church on Sunday

Psalm 34
I sought the LORD, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.

It Is Well With My Soul
My sin—O the bliss of this glorious thought!—
My sin not in part, but the whole
Is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more.

The Power of the Cross
Oh, to see the dawn, Of the darkest day:
Christ on the road to Calvary.
Tried by sinful men, torn and beaten, then
Nailed to a cross of wood.

Chorus:
This, the pow’r of the cross:
Christ became sin for us;
Took the blame, bore the wrath
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Oh, to see my name, Written in the wounds,
For through Your suffering I am free.
Death is crushed to death;
Life is mine to live, Won through Your selfless love.

Mighty to Save
Chorus:
Savior, He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever, author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

  1. Thanks!

I once had a dear departed saint comment to me how she thought she was the only one in church who would be singing other great songs of faith after the singing ended.

I said no you are not, it happens to me all the time. Though as the preacher I have to remember I have a service to lead and not get lost in the singing!

It is good to sing the songs, scripture or other writings. To have them fill your heart and mind at all hours.

When my cancer hit several years ago now, the scripture and songs filled my heart.

As I remember that the anger of man does not fulfill the righteousness of God -- James 1:20 or 22, the songs of the faith fill my heart and I find myself singing. Even in the checkout line!

I thank God for such times and for the songs and what they remind the person of.

That in the words of a preacher, God is on the throne and He is not up for re-election!

That what was accomplished by Christ cannot be undone by humanity.

As the song says -- There's within my heart a melody, Jesus whispers sweet and low Fear not I am with you peace be still in all of life's ebb and flow .....

  2. Hi GREV, I've just been terribly moved by these sorts of things in recent weeks. So I thought I'd pass them along.

  3. Amen! Looks like the kind of Sunday morning lineup we would have at our church.
