Okay. Looks like we dodged a bullet today. It was a close call. But don’t let this near miss make you too complacent. For Judgment Day is just around the corner:

  1. This Camping fiasco is great news for those who revel in the mediocrity of Christian End Times theology. You guys have only been waiting nearly 2000 years for judgment day? When is your Jeesuz going to come?

rather, I would think you would should be concerned about your own personal judgment day! We all have one!

  3. I haven't been waiting for 2000 years. At most, I've been waiting for about 52 years.

If Jesus had come in, say, 500 AD, I wouldn't be here. So I'm glad that Jesus is taking his time. And I'd extend the same courtesy to Christian generations that come after me.

What's the hurry? I'll see Jesus soon enough whenever I die. In the meantime, I hope future generations enjoy the same gracious opportunity I was given. I'm not eager to slam the door on those behind me.

  4. I would wait until 6:00 pm Oakland, California time is passed before I got too certain about this. As I write this it is still only 4:57 pm.

  7. Personally I think when time ends it will end in all time, so, ironically, time could still end in 1994.

As to the question of when will Jesus return, well, just think of all the dry years leading up to the first Incarnation. The fullness of times is the fullness of times.

I think a big clue though is when the devil and his children assert dominion of the entire world is when God brings the hammer down. Almost happened in the 20th century, sort of happening now with insane Islam and hangover leftist ideology in a big bear hug. The veil was pierced in the U.S. on 9/11. Western Europe is currently drowning in darkness. What's left after we two?

In fact, I think 'global reach' in general is a clue to the true end. When was global reach of the Gospel really possible? Just recently.

  8. Seriously, we have to think of the times when we've experienced something that in the midst of the usual banal humdrum of reality is truly supernatural to know that the supernatural event of the return of the King is real.

I don't know if every believer gets a glimpse of a supernatural event, or has to. I have. Don't feel a need to defend it in a court of law, but it happened. Had to do with a car accident I was involved in. I've read several other people give testimony of something similar.

But if we've experience the supernatural, and we *remember it* (Gogol said we have a remarkable ability to make everything insignificant) we know that the supernatural event that will be the return of the King is not just promised by God and His revealed word, but is not unusual.

  9. Not to dominate this thread - ha ha - but here's a relevant essay by a young Louis Berkhof talking about miracles - also, the supernatural in general - and how it is the usual (how it is natural) where two kingdoms meet:

It's not an easy essay to follow (it was never edited for publication), but it is very interesting and rewards the effort.

That's right. Thor is getting mighty p.o.'d about all this Yahweh bunk and will be bringing down his hammer shortly. Watch out.

  11. And of course the Vikings converted to Christianity once the truth was made known to them. And yes, Jesus has a little Thor in Him. Read Revelation, around 19:11 I believe (from memory) and forward...

  12. Revelation is my favorite but it's better if you're on acid.
