Ignorance about ignorance

If you wish to read a blog with an anti-Catholic message, you could do no better than to check out Triablogue (http://triablogue.blogspot.com/). However do not make the mistake of posting comments to that blog in opposition to the views expressed, as you will likely be called "incompetent," an "ignorant Catholic." or a Catholic with a low "standing" in the Church. The blog is apparently run by several individuals pretending to be intellectuals. They often try to impress the reader by the use of the occasional Latin phrase or language designed to appear scholarly. One of the writers is particularly in love with "tu quoque." A search of the blog shows that he began using the phrase sometime this past July and by my last count he has used it at least five times since his July discovery of the term. Below is an example of one of their most recent posts.

Last July? Hmm. Here's an example from 2006:

"No, Tu quoque is not the 'best' I can do. But it will do for now since it’s a legitimate move in a cumulative counterargument."

Although John rankles at the charge of "incompetence" and "ignorance," he just did a fine job of corroborating the charge.

Now there is a fine example of "lexical semantics!"

Oh, thank for correcting the date of the beginning of your love affair with "tu quoque."

Yikes, possible "lexical" semantic error. I meant to say, thank you.

This is apparently written by some modernist-minded RC who is in denial about the inherently hierarchical nature of his own church, and shoots the Prod messenger who informs him about it.

Like it or not, sacramentally empowered parish priests and Magisterium are simply on a special, higher spiritual plane than you cannot possibly reach.

  4. See how poorly John did in his exchanges with us here, here, and here. Observing what happened to him in those discussions should help you understand his view of Triablogue more than any explanation he offers.

  5. John sometimes leaves me wondering: surely no one could be *THAT* obtuse. Then I remember that this is the internet and he is the Catholic, male version of Boxxy. At last! It makes sense.

  6. I guess the moral of the story is study to show yourself approved!

At least learn to do some simple research before you make a claim.

I guess it would be an ignorant guess that he is not a Charismatic operating with the gift of Knowledge?

  7. Oh, don't be offended. As Catholics, they are probably still just annoyed that the Bible was translated into the common language for everyone to read themselves...

(October is a great time to re-read through reformation history...)
