Sharia in Dearborn, MI 2010

Please pray for some of our beloved apologists over at Answering Muslims who got to spend the night in jail after merely attending the 2010 Dearborn Arab Festival in Dearborn, Michigan. This festival is open to the public. Please read that last sentence again. You can see what happened to some of them at the same festival in 2009 after they attempted to have a discussion with a Muslim representative regarding an erroneous pamphlet at an "Ask a Muslim" table!

I am all for the original understanding of tolerance; i.e., that we can strongly disagree with one another yet live in the same community in harmony. However, what I linked above is a fine example of the spiritual deception that America is experiencing in the name of religious pluralism and political correctness. I see it on the campuses all the time and I believe it is a grievous symptom of the present state of Western culture. Most people I talk to are so brainwashed by political correctness and religious pluralism that they have mud for brains when it comes to intelligently discussing the subject of Islam. The fact that Americans can allow for nonsense like this to take root in their communities only 9 years after jihadists attacked one of our major metropolitan cities is evidence of God's wrath (Romans 1:25). In other words, we are just plain stupid to the truth because we want to be and God is giving us what we want.

God have mercy on us.

For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12

    The effects of the brainwashing goes far beyond the subject of Islam.

    "In other words, we are just plain stupid to the truth because we want to be and God is giving us what we want."

    Agreed. But it's tragic-funny that its the other side who is utterly convinced that Christians are the ones who are determined to be stupid and blind to the truth that there is no God, or if there is a God, that He's not like the God that Christians think He is.

  2. Most likely most of us has one time or another seen something similar to this incident now that things must be politically judicially correct in the USA?

    I have seen such hostility towards me at local societal parades and civic events where the Spirit of Grace was not welcome. As such, when out and about in the world it should be so, unless you do not have the Spirit of Grace?

    For me, as should be all wise, to fall back on insights the Holy Spirit has given to us to strengthen our resolve in the affairs of mankind these days, is mostly like the incident at Dearborn:::>

    Ecc 3:7 a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

    The one quality that sets the Saints apart from the rest can fairly be defined with words like "joyful", "rejoice", "beautiful", "to do good", "God's gift", "wickedness and righteousness"?

    Contrast these brethren with those security of the other persuasion:

    Ecc 3:9 What gain has the worker from his toil?
    Ecc 3:10 I have seen the business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with.
    Ecc 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
    Ecc 3:12 I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live;
    Ecc 3:13 also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil--this is God's gift to man.
    Ecc 3:14 I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him.
    Ecc 3:15 That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away.
    Ecc 3:16 Moreover, I saw under the sun that in the place of justice, even there was wickedness, and in the place of righteousness, even there was wickedness.
    Ecc 3:17 I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous and the wicked, for there is a time for every matter and for every work.
    Ecc 3:18 I said in my heart with regard to the children of man that God is testing them that they may see that they themselves are but beasts.
    Ecc 3:19 For what happens to the children of man and what happens to the beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts, for all is vanity.
    Ecc 3:20 All go to one place. All are from the dust, and to dust all return.
    Ecc 3:21 Who knows whether the spirit of man goes upward and the spirit of the beast goes down into the earth?
    Ecc 3:22 So I saw that there is nothing better than that a man should rejoice in his work, for that is his lot. Who can bring him to see what will be after him?

    As it says, "we" are all "beasts" taking in the same breath. Some of us have the "Gift of God", that is, the "Spirit of Grace", while others, well, go figure that one?

    Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

    Other than the Sony video camera and the internet, there is nothing new here!

  3. Reading some of the comments over on the Acts 17 site can be somewhat disheartening if you didn't already recognize that most of the people who claim to be Christians in America today are of the seed that fell on the rocky soil. The instant persecution arises, they abandon their faith. Indeed, they pile on with the persecutors against Christians.

    In America, we have more rights than the apostles did. Of course, we have those rights because of our Christian heritage; but one would still expect even atheists ought to be horrified at this happening in America. (Consider: we've been a predominately Christian culture for 200+ years and have no history of killing or repressing atheists, and these same atheists can simply look at the predominately Muslim countries and ask which they would prefer to live in--almost all will say America--and despite all that, many (those who post online) will still rather see Christians oppressed than Muslims held to the same standard of the law as everyone else.) I would think that atheists would have much more to fear from the implementation of Sharia law than Christians would. But enemies of the Gospel make strange bedfellows.

    But I don't want to digress too far down that road at the moment. Ultimately, I think this whole episode shows why it is critical that the church return to raising up true disciples of Christ instead of trying to entertain the unregenerate. If we can't tell the difference between those who claim to be believers and the world, why should we expect God to differentiate them? Something comes to mind...a bit of "Many will say, 'Lord, Lord' and I will say, 'Depart from me, I never knew you.'"
