On March 14, 2010, the city of Melbourne, Australia will be hosting Australia’s largest ever atheist event, the 2010 Global Atheist Convention, The Rise of Atheism, featuring Richard Dawkins and other atheist bigwigs. As was posted earlier this year in my article titled Creationist Kooks Offer Debate Challenge, Creation Ministries International (CMI) issued a challenge to a team of leading atheists to debate the validity of the theory of evolution at the conference site and the atheists rejected the challenge. You may wonder that if the evidence for NeoDarwinian theory is so good and the case for atheism is so strong, why would some of the world’s leading atheistic scientists reject an opportunity to publicly demolish the arguments put up by doctoral level scientists from one of the world’s leading creation groups? You know, you would have thought that Jon Sarfati, who himself is a pretty good chess player, would have pointed out to the graphic design people that a king can't checkmate another king.
ReplyDeleteYou know, a pretty good chessplayer knows that a tipped king is often a mark that that player has resigned. According to the FIDE Laws of Chess, resignation "immediately ends the game", so placing the opposing king next to the toppled king is irrelevant because the game is already over. Also, in tournaments, after a game is completed, an arbiter often puts one or both kings in the centre of the board to indicate the result.

ReplyDeleteProbably because your event in Chirnside Park was organised after the Rise of Atheism convention i.e. we already have plans on Sunday but would love to demolish the arguments at a later date.
And hasn't Richard Dawkins already exposed the lunacy of creationism and intelligent design enough on ABC lately? It's masochistic to want more.
