"Prayers for Bobby"

I’ve been seeing trailers for this film. Alth0ugh the trailers are self-explanatory, I decided to Google the film to confirm my impressions. Here’s a summary from a sympathetic outlet:

Based on a true story and Leroy Aarons' book of the same name, Weaver stars as Mary Griffith, a profoundly religious wife and mother who begins to question her faith after the suicide of her beloved gay son. Ultimately, with the posthumous acceptance of her son's homosexuality, Mary becomes an advocate for the rights of gay and lesbian youth. "Prayers for Bobby" will premiere in February 2009 on Lifetime Television.

Executive producer Stanley M. Brooks, said, "It's our sincere hope this heart-wrenching true story will foster more tolerance and understanding for all people." Added executive producers David Permut and Daniel Sladek, "The landmark book, Prayers for Bobby, has changed countless minds and saved hundreds of lives since it was first published in 1995. We hope that through this powerful movie, we can continue to positively affect lives and do justice to the memory of Bobby Griffith."

In "Prayers for Bobby," Mary Griffith (Weaver) is a devout Christian who raised her children with the conservative teachings of her Presbyterian church. But when her son Bobby confides to his older brother he may be gay, life changes for the entire family after Mary learns about his secret. While Bobby's father and siblings slowly come to terms with his homosexuality, Mary believes God can cure him of what she considers his 'sin' and persuades Bobby to pray harder and seek solace in church activities in hopes of changing him. Desperate for his mother's approval, Bobby does what is asked of him, but through it all, the church's apparent disapproval of homosexuality causes him to grow increasingly withdrawn and depressed.

Guilty over the pain he is causing Mary, Bobby moves away, yet hopes that some day his mother will accept him. His subsequent depression and self-loathing intensifies as he blames himself for not being the 'perfect' son and is driven to suicide. Faced with their tragedy, Mary begins to question her faith when she receives no answers from her pastor concerning her devastating loss. Through her long and emotional journey, Mary slowly reaches out to the gay community and discovers unexpected support from a very unlikely source.

So what are we to say about this?

1.This is clearly a very one-sided and heavy-handed propaganda piece. It doesn’t even try to conceal its ideological agenda.

This is another exercise in emotional extortion. Liberals can’t win the argument, so they resort to intimidation.

2.While it accentuates the genuine tragedy of a young homosexual man who committed suicide, it ignores the tragic aspect of the homosexual lifestyle itself, both here and now as well as hereafter.

3.Also, there is something very patronizing about the suggestion that a grown man would commit suicide unless his mother approves of him. There’s a difference between being a five-year-old and a fifteen-year-old, just as there’s a difference between being a fifteen-year-old and a twenty-five-year-old. Part of maturation is outgrowing the need for parental approval. If a mother still has that kind of emotional lock on a full-grown son, that’s a classic case of arrested development.

This movie may be based on a true story, but if the depiction is true, then the dysfunctional relationship runs much deeper than the mother’s piety.

4.That said, there is, admittedly, an element of truth to this story. Especially in Pentecostalism and fundamentalism, there’s a tendency to look for some silver bullet to slay our besetting sins. And when the silver bullet fails, that can drive some people over the edge.

They were assured that if they just upped their daily prayer quota and did a lot more churchy stuff, they would be delivered from their besetting sin. When this formula didn’t work, it drove them to despair.

Christians really do need to guard against this simplistic and mechanistic view of sanctification. It can backfire. Do more harm than good.

5.So, if a Christian family were confronted with a situation like this, how should it be dealt with?

i) We need to avoid the easy extremes of total acceptance and total rejection. When I’m channel-surfing I sometimes run across those Nanny 911 shows about pathetic parents of spoiled brats. Well, good parents don’t let their kids get away with whatever they please.

In fact, there are some parents who literally let their kids get away with murder. In their twisted way, they actually think that’s their parental duty.

Being a good parent means using the word “no” from time to time. And “no” needs to be more than a word.

ii) Instead of talking about a homosexual son or brother, let’s talk about some other behavior, like drug addiction or compulsive gambling.

Would we be tolerant and accepting of his self-destructive behavior? Would we join an advocacy group to lobby for the social acceptance of drug addiction or compulsive gambling? I hope not!

iii) On the other hand, if you found out that your son or brother had a gambling problem or problem with substance abuse, you wouldn’t evict him or disown him. That would not be the proper response.

At the risk of staking the obvious, it’s possible to find some middle ground.

iv) I’m no expert on addiction, but I suspect this is person-variable. Some people overcome addiction, and some don’t. For some, it ends in tragedy. For others, it’s a lifelong struggle, with many lapses. For others, they get over the craving.

What our response calls for is not unconditional acceptance, but unconditional commitment. Patience!

You do the best you can for your son or brother for as long as he needs your emotional support. That may be until the day you die or he dies—which ever comes first. There are no magic deadlines.

v) Mind you, commitment takes different forms. You can’t provide for a forty-year-old the same way you provide for a teenager. An adult needs to be treated as an adult—even if he’s not yet ready for it. If you don’t start treating him as an adult, he’ll never be ready for it.

  1. Excellent post. As the father of two young children, I'd be deeply grieved if either one of them became involved in same-sex behavior.

I pray it never happens (as well as praying that they don't get involved with other besetting sins).

And if it does happen, I pray that they repent and turn back to the Lordship of Jesus and His Word. And that I would be a good earthly father in helping them do that.

    Total commitment!!! Yes, indeed!

  2. I wonder do they seek the wisdom of the Bible in this film? Or did they seek the truth of the Bible in the real life situation?

That's my foundation for all things; not the church. Though the church that stands on the Bible is where one needs to find wisdom.

I remember in "Dead Man Walking" Susan Sarandon, who played the Nun, in this one particular scene came to the priest to argue against capital punishment. The priest the quoted Scripture. I think it was "an eye for an eye, and a life for a life". She then fainted. And that was the end of the Bible. Good movie though.

My point is that the Bible is allowed to have the smallest role in these types of films, liberal films that is.
There was a time when the Bible was greatly revered for it's sacredness. No longer; sad to say.

    “Steve, and your followers.”

I didn’t know I had “followers.” Maybe I should move to Idaho and build a religious compound where I can rule over my “followers.”

“Read I Corin. chap. 13 and begin to think above the waist, thats where real love is you know ... where your heart is??”

Do you know where your brain is?

Is telling people to “think above the waist” your idea of charity? What made you think it’s charitable to impute below-the-waist motives to those you disagree with? Maybe you’re the one who needs to reread 1 Cor 13 and consider what it really means.

“Steve and followers, to give an honest christian evaluation of the movie, you owe it those who view your blog to see the movie, not just a few clips, you're telling half truths about the movie and that is worse than lies did you know that ?”

    i) If one needs to see the movie to offer an accurate evaluation, then you yourself are in no position to accuse me of misrepresenting the movie since you yourself have yet to see the movie. It doesn’t air until Jan 24.

ii) There’s plenty of info about the book and the movie in the public domain, viz.

“You are doing more harm than good to those who hang onto your every word.”

To judge by the amount of critical feedback I get, it doesn’t look like people hang on my every word.

“And they are powerless to really know the truth because they haven't seen the movie, muchless read the book.”

You have a very patronizing view of the people you presume to speak about. I stated at the outset the basis of my evaluation. I’m not misleading anyone.

They are at liberty to see the movie for themselves, when it airs later this month. At that point, they can go back and compare the movie with my post.

In the meantime, the studio wants the general public to form a snap judgment about the movie. That’s why the studio is putting out advance info about the movie.

If the studio didn’t want the public to form a snap judgment about the movie, it wouldn’t release all this info in advance of the premier. If the studio is misrepresenting its own product, that’s not my problem.

I’m entitled to form a preliminary judgment on the basis of preliminary information which the studio has chosen to publicize.

The studio is trying to foster a sympathetic, first impression of the movie to attract viewers. The promos are intentionally prejudicial—calculated to create a favorable impression. It’s a softening up exercise. As such, I’m entitled to respond on the same level.

“As it is written in proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruits there of.”

Which is why a propaganda piece like this movie is dangerous.

“Be careful dear friend ‘think’ you do not speak for God neither do the men who wrote the bible, they speak for men.”

If you don’t think Bible writers speak for God, then why are you citing 1 Cor 13 and Prov 18:21?

“t Jesus speaks for himself as it should be ,he is God, and he says O about Bobby.”

He says “O” about Bobby? Should I run through all the words beginning with “O”?

“You are the intimidating Christian who has forgotten to ‘THINK’ and to LOVE God Bless.”

This is a movie which, like the Matthew Shepard affair, ruthlessly exploits a personal tragedy to advance an evil agenda. If that fits your twisted definition of “love,” so be it. But that has nothing to do with how the Bible defines true love.

  6. I don't plan on watching this film. I didn't go to see Brokeback Mountain either. It was obvious what it was all about, and I'm not excited about such things. I believe homosexual living is living in sin, and so one needs to ask God to forgive him, and help him repent. He may struggle from now to until he dies, but he needs to come to grips with his sin, which is crystal clear in the Bible, and nature itself.

There's a very real agenda by this culture to say the Scriptures are wrong, and homosexual living is as normal as heterosexual living. In fact they say, that if you have a homosexual tendency, that is if you are a man, and you desire to have sex with other men, then it would be wrong for you to fight against this, in order to have desires for a woman.

I say all this having a brother of mine die from AIDS.

So riley, you need to think about what you are saying.

1 Cor. 13 says Love rejoices in the truth, and the truth is God's Word. John 17.

  7. Truth Unites and Divides, how true, ,Fact, Jesus didn't say a word/bash gay/lesbian human being .
Donsands I am truly sorry for the passing of your brother, I know personally, that sorrow. And yes the movie did use bible verses that the mother used in real life.As you know we do not keep the old testament laws, only a "select" few.For example..and you can check this out...if no one had ever "chalenged" religious authority, there would be no democracy,no public schools (for the poor)womens rights, pursuit of science and medicine, abolition of slavery, and no laws against child abuse or spousal abuse . As you well know, Moses was big on keeping the troops in line , men, women and children , obey or death to the offender, thank God we don't have a tyrant ruling us today like Moses !and I'm sorry for offending anyone with "thinking above the waist" My intention was purely to demonstrate, that love is between two human beings, is not all about erotica, right Steve ? As with the heterosexual lifestyle, so is the gay/lesbian life style, that being, having someone to love and care for, to grow old with, to share the joys and sorrows of life with, to laugh with, cry with, if this is your definination of sin, we are all going to hell ! I did see the movie in it's entirety, the son gave up on love and the hope of ever being an equal, lovable and valuable part of Gods creation. The church reviled him, society, and his family, wouldn't you want to move in with God ?? He didn't die for lack of his mothers approval, see the movie Steve, and check out Proverbs 18:19 A brother/sister offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle. Your in the business Steve of winning souls? With your defensive attitude, your batting OOO, and remember " not every one who says Lord, Lord, shall inter the kingdom of heaven ,but he that doeth the will of my father in heaven Matt.7:21, The mothers son didn't decide to be homosexual, did you decide to be heterosexual, I don't believe so. There's more to true love than sex, and if you argue that Steve, you'v got a huge problem with God/Jesus.....

    How do you know?

  9. RILEY20009THINK SAID:

    “Fact, Jesus didn't say a word/bash gay/lesbian human being .”

    i) Jesus didn’t say a word about a lot of things. However, he did reaffirm heteronormative sexual ethics (Mk 10:1-12).

ii) Jesus also appointed apostles to speak on his behalf. He appointed Paul, among others. And Paul, as a divinely appointed spokesman for Jesus, condemns homosexuality (Rom 1:24-27; 1 Cor 6:9; 1 Tim 1:10).

“As you know we do not keep the old testament laws.”

Even if we don’t keep OT laws today, they still indicate a divine standard of right and wrong.

Anyway, the biblical condemnation of homosexuality carries over into the NT.

“As you well know, Moses was big on keeping the troops in line , men, women and children , obey or death to the offender, thank God we don't have a tyrant ruling us today like Moses.”

Jesus didn’t think that Moses was a tyrant. Jesus thought that Moses was a true prophet of God. So your feeble attempt to drive a wedge between Jesus and the rest of the Bible is self-contradictory.

“My intention was purely to demonstrate, that love is between two human beings, is not all about erotica, right Steve ? As with the heterosexual lifestyle, so is the gay/lesbian life style, that being, having someone to love and care for, to grow old with, to share the joys and sorrows of life with, to laugh with, cry with, if this is your definination of sin, we are all going to hell !”

There’s such a thing as sinful love, viz., incest, adultery, pedophilia.

“The son gave up on love and the hope of ever being an equal, lovable and valuable part of Gods creation.”

There’s a solution for that: repentance.

“The church reviled him, society, and his family.”

Did my post suggest that we should “revile” someone in his situation? No.

    “Check out Proverbs 18:19.”

Why should I check out Prov 18:19 when, according to you, OT ethics is obsolete?

“A brother/sister offended is harder to be won than a strong city.”

Which begs the question of whether an impenitent homosexual is my brother or sister. Is an impenitent thief or adulterer or murderer my brother too? No.

“Your in the business Steve of winning souls? With your defensive attitude, your batting OOO.”

Of course, the Bible is full of “defensive” rhetoric as well. Is the Bible batting 1000?

“And remember ‘not every one who says Lord, Lord, shall inter the kingdom of heaven ,but he that doeth the will of my father in heaven’ Matt.7:21.”

That’s an admonition which a homosexual apologist like you would to well to take to heart.

“The mothers son didn't decide to be homosexual, did you decide to be heterosexual, I don't believe so.”

Whether or not a homosexual decides to be homosexual, we must all decide to exercise sexual self-restraint.

Does a pedophile decide to lust after little boys and girls? Who cares? That’s not the issue. Does a serial rapist decide to hate women? Who cares? That’s not the issue.

Left to his own devices, the average heterosexual man will be a womanizer. Should he exercise no self-restraint? Follow his sexual impulses wherever they take him?

“There's more to true love than sex.”

Active homosexuals engage in homosexual sex. Don’t pretend that sex has nothing to do with it.

  11. as students of the bible , there were several of my comments that you didn't critiqe for me correctly. I didn't say homosexual people didn't Have SEX, I did say SEX is not the sum total of any relationship, I should have added... be it homosexual or heterosexual, and thats a good thing, because many people who are paraplegics are Homosexual or heterosexual, and are blessed to find someone to love them till they move in with God/Jesus you have a problem with that I can tell.... God dosen't . As a student of the bible, you must remember Moses talked mouth to mouth with God, don't you "think" God would have expressed compassion to Moses not to kill a child for being direspectful? Moses ruled with Death to the offender regardless of how minor, I'm thankful I didn't live in those times, especially with children, aren't you ???And you say Jesus believed Moses was at the top of his game, a really great guy, I don't "THINK" so, Jesus probably didn't know half the magic Moses used to keep the tribes in line, it sure wasn't love! And yes all those people lived at one time, so did all the other people in our history along with Jesus, some good , some not so good. And by the way .I really dig Carey Grant, he's the greatest gay actor on film, glad you approve of him, Randolf Scott was one of his lovers, He was married for a year, but then alot of gay guys try to pass for straight, but their not fooling anyone but their self, Carey finaly lived his life, rather then lie .... and thats a good life, Morals are as important to Gay/lesbian people as they are to you, I have a gay son, and he is a Christian, and God/Jesus loves him, he should he created him as he is.

  12. "Jesus probably didn't know half the magic Moses used to keep the tribes in line"

    That's an absurd statement.

"..and He [Jesus] was transfigured before them. His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on Earth can whiten them! And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus." Mark 9:2-4

Moses met with Jesus, and obviously he was sent by God the Father, to be in the midst of His transfiguration!

Moses was a humble, or meek (Num. 12:3), man, beloved of the Lord.

Personally I believe the Bible is God's Word, which is truth.

  13. Donsands, answer my comment, Moses talked "Mouth to Mouth with God" ! And God sanction his subordinate Moses to commit barbaric acts against his children for being disrespectful to Moses ? come on Donsands, That is absurd ! even to a 5 year old, actually it would scare a 5 year old and ruin them for life, pretty much like looking at Jesus dying on the cross and telling a child "it's because of you" he had to die and suffer such a horrific death, talk about child abus, / psycological abuse , think about that, what a guilt trip for life for a child/teenager ! no wonder kids are the way they are ! God would never put such pain and abuse on alittle child much less an adult, maybe people enjoy a guilt complex . So Jesus loved Moses right, so that makes everything Moses did OK ?? Thats absurd again. How can you reason/think/and then believe God would inspire such cruelty ? Even Jesus said to be kind to your beast didn't he ? You answer my comments with bible verses, now answer me in your "own" words as your conscience dictates, we all have one you know, and God expects you to use it, never mind Paul, and all those other guys , lets hear what you "think" Jesus was on top of his game pretty much but so was Gandhi I like their style , I don't believe God is contained in a book/building, I breath him in with every breath I take right along with you, our journeys may be different, nonetheless we will end up at the same place with God, no doubt about that..... why, God is Love period end of story donsand ....AS you study don't be afraid to reason and think as you go along, God knows doubt is the beginning of wisdom, doubt isn't from the boogie man Saten, it's from your God given conscience , to protect you, you don't have to defend God, why do you try ???? he stands on his own, you're even trying is absurd to use your word.... but if it makes you feel better have at it......riley2009 Think !
Gods wisdom is everywhere, thats what makes him God !You can't keep him in your bible !!!

  14. The truth I believe and stand on is this: "Jesus Christ was crucified for my sins, and He rose from the dead on the third day, and is alive. He ascended into heaven, and He sits at the right hand of His Father, and He shall return to judge "the secrets of men" according to the Gospel.

Since Christ died and rose again, then He is my God, and I listen to Him, through the Holy Scriptures, which he said man shall live upon.

Your own thinking of who god is is false. You have no truth in your god.

You need to ask Jesus Christ to forgive you, and trust Him riley. You need to repent, and come to Christ, and you will find rest for your soul, and peace with God.

  15. RILEY20009THINK,

    i) You’re a chronic liar. You shift from one contradictory argument to another. You originally appealed to Jesus (because he is God) and Scripture (1 Cor 13; Prov 18:21; Mt 7:21).

Now you’ve come around to saying that it doesn’t matter what Jesus thought since he was ignorant. But you also said Jesus was God. Does this mean that God is ignorant?

And now you also say it doesn’t matter what the Bible teaches.

You’re just a scoundrel. And the fact that you can’t defend your position by honest means goes to show that your position is indefensible. You can only defend an immoral position by using immoral tactics.

ii) I’m also unimpressed by your wedge strategy. I’ve defended the Mosaic law on many occasions. For you to parrot Richard Dawkins doesn’t make a dent in my position.

iii) The Mosaic law isn’t dealing with 5-year-olds. Rather, it’s dealing with juvenile delinquents.

iv) You say you have a homosexual son. That explains your ulterior motives.

It’s a pity your son doesn’t have a loving and caring parent who is truly interested in his/her son’s wellbeing. Instead, you’re confirming your son in his self-destructive and soul-destroying lifestyle. You’re no better than a parent who murders his/her children.

    v) Human beings aren’t merely the way God “made” them. We live in a fallen world—a world of sinners.

vi) Since you reject divine revelation, you’re in no position to say what God is really like, or where we all end up when we die. This is just willful, irrational make-believe on your part.

  16. Obviously you people don't know any homosexuals. I know of none that choose to be attrated to the same sex. All those that I know, knew at about the same age I knew I liked the opposite sex, who they were attracted to. The bible is a good history book AT BEST. I too pray that non of you have a homosexual child, its not a behavior, its a state of being, as is heterosexuality...your children won't repent, they won't change, god wouldn't want them to. They will however, tragically die young or live a lie as long as they can like so many in your congregations. What a blow to a wonderful, intelligent childs self esteem to think that thier own family believes there is something "wrong" with them because of who they might potentially fall in love with. How sad and ungodly it is that you bible thumpers only equate homosexuality with sex...a fine mirror of who you all really are and what a twisted view of love you have. This story is simply about the tragic loss of human life due to ignorance, and dont think for a second that if you too don't dig deeper into your souls than the pages of that old anitqated history book that you all hold so dear, that that you won't suffer the same losses on some level. God enlightens, and helps human kind evolve and be the best humans they can be, god is not fire and brimstone nor a circus act as depicted in the bible. He does not sprinkle magic fairy dust on those who pray hard enough and follow the footsteps of a bunch of fools that claimed THEMSELVES TO BE PROPHETS. Good luck to you all.

And note, they are all generally commited by men. Again confirming that love is all about sex to him and his kind. So, I guess god keeps a pretty close eye on what kind of sex your having steve, to make sure its in accordance to reproduction policies at all times. Otherwise, married or not if its not the missionary position you and your wife are just twisted perverts...or thats okay because its the opposite sex. Sure. Makes perfect sense.

  18. "Obviously you people don't know any homosexuals."

I do. I have a Christian friend who was a homosexual. he's a fine Christian, and has shared me how powerful lust as a homosexual can be. A different lust than a man's lust for a woman, but lust, and sin, just the same.

I know another blooger friend who is a christian, who is attracted to the same sex, but knows it would be a sin to give into his lusts.

And my brother Tommy, died of AIDS.

Here's an article to read if you like: http://dlsands.blogspot.com/2008/05/reaching-out-to-homosexuals.html.

It explains where I'm coming from with a biblical perspective, and not simply my own way of looking at this difficult subject.

And the thing is this, we all use knowledge from writers, books, and all kinds of material. The Bible has been proven over and over to be authentic.

I'd rather base my truth on the trith of Scripture, then what other people think.

    ReplyDelete
  22. "so far they are all words and no "LOVE""

Love rejoices in the truth, and not sin.

For me, life is all about me, I'm ashamed to admit. And yet, my heart hates that I'm a lover of my own self, and a lover of pleasure.

I long to love Christ first, and honor Him in all I do. I want His commandments to be obeyed in my life.

And His charge is love. But not your definition of love. Your love riley is an empty and human love, which is a sinfully tainted love at best.

Christ's love speaks truth, and sometimes makes a whip of 9-tails and whips sinners out of the Temple. And sometimes this love of Jesus causes anger, and causes us to hate sin, because sin brings dishonor to Jesus Christ, and sin sneds people to hell, where they shall be tormented forever and ever, which is what we all deserve, I know I do.

So you'd better exaime your love, because your love isn't the love of Christ. It's a false love, a worldly love, and even a devilish love.
I know because this love controlled me at one time, but it now has lost its grip, because of Christ, and His Spirit, who lives in me.

  23. I repeat, what happened to this Christion family, could happen to any family , regardless of race or religious faith. They attended the Walnut Creek Presbyterian in California. This family went by the book, the bible, or known as the God owners manual . a horrific injustice was done to a child of God, this movie will help to right this injustice done not only to Bobby but other gay and lesbian children of God and hopefully they will not give up on love as Bobby did, this is not a movie for profit, this is a movie to bring hope and validation that all gay and lesbian children are an equal, lovable , and valuable part of creation/universe just as they are... from birth to death, her son was perfect in Gods sight...he had /has a kind and loving heart/spirit, and thats what God saw in Bobby....I'm sorry all of you see evil, but that is after all, "your choice"

Satan comes as an angel; an angel of light. His ministers also come as light and as righteousness.

We'd better know how to know them.
There are many false gospels riley.
    Many false Jesus' as well.

"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world." The Bible is the way to test false spirits. The Law, the prophets, and the Pslams; and the New Testament.

Here's the truth, may it cut deep into your heart, and so bring you to repentance and faith in Christ.
"Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted." I tim. 1:8-11

  25. I don't have much to add to this except to observe that the logic of the pro-homosexual arguments remain as conflicted as ever. I think it's disturbingly amusing that homosexual apologists sound like hyper-Calvinistic open-theists. Hey, whatever deludes people enough to get them to agree with a position makes for a good argument, right?

That said, homosexuality is a sin. adultery is a sin. Distortion of the truth is a sin. Love is when you care enough to tell someone the truth even if they don't want to hear it and they think you're a great big homophobic hateful meanie for doing so.

And for the record, I have had two homosexual roommates in my lifetime. One in the Marines and one in college. We disagreed and still got along just fine as roommates. In fact, I learned more than I really wanted to about the homosexual lifestyle by watching them, so I've seen it up front and personal.

My former church was infiltrated by a homosexual couple who joined the church in the closet for the purpose of swaying the church favorably toward coming denominational discussions and votes regarding the acceptance of homosexuality. They played on spiritual weaknesses already existing in the church and all but destroyed the church before they moved on to the next church. And it was intentional. Don't think it doesn't happen.

GLBT wolves-in-sheep's clothing preying on unsuspecting sheep. Why am I not surprised?

They must cackle and laugh hysterically when the sheep turn on the true undershepherds (who uphold God's commandments and teachings in Scripture) and who try to rid the flock of these GLBT wolves.

    Prayers for Bobby?

Prayers for bold and courageous undershepherds and for sheep who will discern and obey God's Word.

  27. Bobby didn't die because his mother didn't approve of his homosexuality. He killed himself because close minded people in his family refused to love him anymore until he turned to God and "became straight". He killed himself because the people he loved, trusted, and cared most about in the world wanted to nothing to do with him just because they took everything in their Holy Book literally.

  28. yuppyupp,

Thanks for that. Given that this is a few months after the post, you helped me bring to mind another angle on this after a fresh review.

Suicide was indeed portrayed as a tragic ending to Bobby's life in this movie. But, given the push for assisted suicide perhaps we have no right to judge that Bobby's motives for committing suicide were noble. Rather we should rejoice with him in the noble end to his life.

Ok, maybe not. But isn't that the argument for assisted suicide? Given the homosexual agenda in juxtaposition with the assisted suicide agenda, what is the politically correct way to feel when a despondent homosexual does the noble thing and commits suicide to relieve his emotional pain?

  29. Hey Jim, and yuppyup don't you get it ?? only fools try to go where angels fear to tread,God knows why Bobby opted to move in with him and so do you !!! by the way the P4B is viewing again 4/19 I think you guys missed Gods message, God looks on the heart, after all he is a gentleman, and wouldn't think of looking into your bedrooms to see who your with , why do you look into other peoples bedrooms ???what are you guys looking at/for ??????????? I THINK you guys are mis-reading your "God Owners Manuel" No where in "YOUR book" Does "God" say love is all about sex, a subject you guys can't seem to get enough of, right ?? That's all you can come up with ! I came to that conclusion because you guys always bring sex up ..your definition of Love ? And because you believe that's what homosexual love is "all" about right ? maybe that is true for some gay people, don't make a blanket statement for all, anymore than you would for heterosexual people being all about "SEX" Ok, there is a verse from "YOUR GODS OWNERS MANUEL" !to make you feel better,do yourself a favor keep it to yourself because that verse will not change reality in Gods world or yours Hitler wanted a perfect world , well friends only in your dreams !!! And I know all about the boogie mans shining light (Saten?) We are grown-ups here, and your perfect society will be a foot note in history, and not any to soon, God is Love ! can't you understand that, being males, surely you know sex dies, but love is eternal right ? sex is not eternal! think about that, unless you're going to live on "VIAGRA" ? And you can't take that with you when you pass on right ???? Welcome to the "real" world, hope you can deal , I really do......THINK try it you'll like it !!!and so will GOD
