But here's the thing, some days you don't see why it happened. And you have to walk by faith not sight. Days as you described are when God allows us a little glimpse behind the scenes as it were. But sometimes these 'bad days' are God saying, 'I'm doing good in your lfe through this difficulty, but you have to trust me even though I'm letting you in on why I'm doing it right now.'

After all, until Moses met God at the burning bush, did he know why God had basically thwarted his desires to help his people? Did Joseph know why the cup-bearer forgot him? Not until much later

Jim
http://diacrino.blogspot.com/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6789188.post-70213377782817645772007-08-05T12:29:00.000-04:002007-08-05T12:29:00.000-04:00Hi Ree -- it's good to "see" you again, too. :-)Hi Ree -- it's good to "see" you again, too. :-)John Bugayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17728044301053738095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6789188.post-22227306906327079882007-08-04T16:53:00.000-04:002007-08-04T16:53:00.000-04:00Peter,Are you calling me old? ;-) (LOL I am old.) ...Peter,

Are you calling me old? ;-) (LOL I am old.) I haven't seen Charms for a long time, but I do occasionally buy "nostalgia candy" for my kids like Sugar Babies (which are way better than Sugar Daddies) and one of our favorites--Skybars!

John,

Wow, I knew what a terrible time you went through when your wife was in Iraq, but I didn't realize how bad things got after she came home. I'm sorry to hear it, but thankful that God worked to bring you both through it. And it's good to "see you" again.Reehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14173588306100422241noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6789188.post-24405375040732746212007-08-04T08:29:00.000-04:002007-08-04T08:29:00.000-04:00Esther 4:14: "Yet who knows whether you have come ...Esther 4:14: "Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"

I believe God uses the entireties of our lives to create His purposes.

Regarding Jim's statement that "every single person in his squad who had been married had gotten a divorce." Some of your readers (including Ree) know that my wife spent a tour in Iraq. She came back from there, itching for a fight at every turn, it seemed. She and I almost got a divorce, and if not for a small (yet Providential) crisis surrounding one of our kids, she would not have sought the kind of counseling help through which she was diagnosed with PTSD and severe depression, nor would she have been prescribed the anti-depressant drug which calmed her down enough to enable us to have the time to discuss all the things we have needed to discuss since she got back. In spite of my optimism about God's Providence, I shudder to think about how the PTSD/Depression/divorce syndrome is multiplied throughout our military.John Bugayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17728044301053738095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6789188.post-76285558850692647332007-08-03T18:28:00.000-04:002007-08-03T18:28:00.000-04:00I had a repair kit until I moved. Somewhere, I still have it...but which box it's in is anyone's guess at this point!

Anyway, you are correct that Charms used to be widespread. Now-a-days, though, they aren't very widespread. I guess you can probably get them in the same places you can get Blow Pops and Sugardaddys (since they're made by the same company, IIRC); so basically, if you have 8-year-old kids you'll know where to find them! :-DPeter Pikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11792036365040378473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6789188.post-12277577872149761332007-08-03T17:43:00.000-04:002007-08-03T17:43:00.000-04:00That was a great story, but I do have two comments...That was a great story, but I do have two comments. First, anyone who uses a bicycle as transportation should always carry a small repair kit, including a patch kit for the tire and a couple of those tiny little plastic tire irons. The second is that I've never seen a military ration kit, but I definitely remember eating Charms candies as a kid.Reehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14173588306100422241noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6789188.post-11620167114142131492007-08-03T13:19:00.000-04:002007-08-03T13:19:00.000-04:00Amen. Not that we can see how all the time, but I am greatly humbled by those times He DOES choose to show me!MariePhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16068136449955788896noreply@blogger.com
