This is a marked feature of many Scripturalists that I have come across. He also wrote a few useful books on apologetics, like A Christian View of Men & Things, and HIstoriography: Secular & Religious.<br /><br />And he began writing apologetic books at a time when we didn't have as many good apologetic resources as we do today.
