The doctrine of the trinity was clearly taught by the apostles, in other words, the diety of Christ and personality and deity of the Spirit were. There is hardly any comparison to the doctrine of the trinity, Biblically, to that of the papacy, hence why your assertion is more likely invalidated.

How can bishops work indepentendly of one another without a central authority? Perhaps they held to a central authority being the apostles teaching, not a papacy. The former is more prevailing in the early early church, not the latter.Cameronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16022158276995943825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6789188.post-61872266408440054952009-04-08T09:49:00.000-04:002009-04-08T09:49:00.000-04:00interesting article. One observation, simply because the word papacy does not appear for many centuries in the fathers does not mean it is not a valid doctrine. Even if the first half of the second century makes no mention of the authority of the bishop of rome it still does not invalidate the papacy. Otherewise we could condemn the doctrine of the trinity on the same grounds. Logically speaking how can we allow bishops to work independently of one another? There has to be a central authority.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13988363517414625670noreply@blogger.com
