If placement in a confession or systematic theology text really means we can draw inferences about the importance of those doctrines within the traditions those texts represent, then it is only fair to conclude that Lutheranism's doctrine of God is seriously deficient; heck it's nonexistent. That would, of course, be an unfair, unfounded, false assessment in the real world, but, by the yardstick McCain and Josh provide, certainly true. We owe them our gratitude for doing this act of great service and being so candid.GeneMBridgeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10504383610477532374noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6789188.post-1133978600171736912005-12-07T13:03:00.000-05:002005-12-07T13:03:00.000-05:00What does "carefully reflective" even mean? I don't think anyone is in danger of mistakenly identifying Josh, "Kobra," et al as carefully reflective contributors to inter-ecclesiastical dialogues like these.

I certainly hope the Lutheran tradition can do better than what we are currently seeing at a popular level on the internet.Der Fürsprecherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16349234130532717148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6789188.post-1133964060954982792005-12-07T09:01:00.000-05:002005-12-07T09:01:00.000-05:00The reasoning here is mind-blowing. Those are not sermons on the Aplha and Omega website. Dr. White isn't writing a systematic theology. He is answering specific questions and errors that come to him,and I suppose if this fine Lutheran were debate Covenant proferssor Robert Peterson on New/Old Earth Creationism, Peterson would be accused of not having his priorities straight because he didn't add "I love Jesus and His work on the Cross" to the end of every statement, even though that staement would add nothing to the debate. Have these men ever been to White's church and heard his pastor preach? Have they heard White himself preach in a non-conference setting in which he doesn't have a specific topic to stick to? Of course, since these men seem to have a box full of James White tapes in their closet, they should know all about it, right?Chuckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00778739900054130935noreply@blogger.com
